The X-ray image above is of a complicated ankle condition prior to surgery. The patient suffered from severe post-traumatic arthritis with distal tibia and fibula mal-union. The total ankle replacement designed for this patient required a stem position to be eccentrically placed medially on the tibial plate and long enough to engage the proximal portion of the tibia bone stock. The patient underwent total ankle replacement surgery more than three years ago and remains extremely satisfied.
